Understanding key terms

Mass media is a communication device which is used to reach people across the world and share them information. Information can be shared in an old or in a new way.
Mass media is the new way, which helped our civilisation to share information faster for a larger audience. This new age in which we live is postmodernity.
Different media shifting from separte platforms into one is the convergence of mass media, thanks to which we don't need separate devices for doing different things online.
Moreover, thanks to mobility, we are not limited to staying in a particular place for doing a particular thing, for example being in the movie theatre to watch a movie - we can simply carry it anywhere. Fragmentation is the answer to why the internet seems to know each of us personally. It is the collection of data showing our personal preferences and tastes.
Global distribution of mass media is globalization.
Finally, the term that we are all probably most aware of nowadays, is simulation. It is the imaginary reality that mass media gives us, feeding us with information with very little relation to the reality and the real state of things. I would say that it is responsible for people having a distorted views of themselves, of others and of life generally lately.
