 Depoliticization

To depoliticize means to cause something or someone to have no political connections. In this article we learn about how monuments that commemorate all of the lives lost in The Second World War, have been depoliticized. People have somehow stopped seeing, or just refuse to see this original meaning and have begun using them for personal profit. They are now being made into "jewelery" and pendants, which are criticized as ugly, as weel as being used as background photos for some other products.

All would agree that this is extremely disrespectful, first of all towards those for whom the monuments were erected, then to those who artistically created and planned the monuments, and of course to the people whose loved one died in the Second World War.

Although everyone would likely agree that this is generally disrespectful, sadly this wouldnt mean much. We are living in an age of an extreme form of capitalism, where the gain of money is considered to be a peak achievement in life. This system encourages the type of behaviour in which "stepping" on national monuments for profit is, all though still looked down upon, a completely normal occurence.
